Mayor Emily Larson kicked off her Get Out The Vote effort in the last weekend of campaigning before Election Day in the Wellstone Hall of the Duluth Labor Temple on Friday.
"I really believe the work we do together matters," Larson said to the crowd of union members, leaders and allies. "This election is a good fight and it's the right fight. We are delivering."
Larson has the endorsement of the Duluth Central Labor Body as well as individual unions and union coalitions, such as LIUNA, the UFCW and the Duluth Building Trades, and the DFL endorsement. Her opponent, Roger Reinert, has the Firefighters Local 101 endorsement.
"Labor endorsed Emily, and there's a reason for it," said Beth McCuskey, president of the Duluth CLB. "With Emily, the conversation is always open and honest, and we work together. It's hard to build relationships and I'm proud to say that Emily and I have done that without being ornery. And that takes a strong leader."
