IBEW Retirees step up to brighten holidays

Just before Thanksgiving, IBEW 242 Retirees combined their efforts to donate gifts, toys, clothes, gift cards, cash and much more to help the AFL-CIO Community Services Christmas Program.
As the IBEW 242/31 retirees club has grown every year, the number of donations has as well.
On the last Tuesday of each month, an average of 40 retired IBEW members, spouses and guests join at various restaurants in the region that have supported union electricians. Check the ad on page 2 to see when the next meeting is.
IBEW 242 Business Manager Don Smith said the retiree group has grown in scope and organization. “They continue to conduct union business monthly, by running their own meeting, which includes, giving to charity, volunteering, political, and just to stay in good touch with each other,” he said.
“They haven’t forgotten where they came from nor what the IBEW has done for them and their families. My hat goes off to all of them and their support is untouchable.”
